Awesome lens! Small, robust, and optically fantastic. I’ve had fun taking milky way photographs with this lens. I also just got an NEX converted into infrared, and just happens to turn out that this is one of the best wide angle lenses I have now for infrared (the other wide angle lenses have a lot of light scatter problems, especially stopped down; this one you can stop down a little for that great FOV and still get no hotspots).The only thing I don’t like is that the close focus is not very good–this only affects a very small portions of the shots I would ever take, so it’s not a major issue to me, but please take note. It’s close focus is about 1′ away, which is not close enough if you want a small flower or feature to fill up the frame (or even if you want the gimmick shot of the person or dog with a “big nose”). I believe the older, f3.5 fisheye has a closer focus, at least my friend’s alpha mount version does. Extension tubes are too thick to allow macro focus on such a small-focal lens, but I found I was able to remove the lens and pull it out about a milimeter to enable close focus, but this required the lens to be rotated 45 degrees to half fit in the bayonet mount, and then the petal hood, no longer aligned, cut off the edges of the image. Since you can’t remove the hood on this lens, its not easily corrected.
