As soon as I got these out of the bag, I started trying different ways to configure them on my first rig to get the best utility. Surely such a simple product didn’t need any kind of instructions or careful thought before using, right? Wrong. It’s far too easy to put one of these together in a way that essentially threads it on a device forever unless you break it off. With a relatively flimsy construction, it’s fortunately quite easy to break if you’re backed into a corner. All that said, at such a low price I definitely got my money’s worth, and I’m completely satisfied with my purchase. I’ll be smarter next time.

These are great for sliding into T slot 4040 extrusions to mount your flashes, dslr, etc to a common rail. The flat bolt fits into the T slot with a little slop and you can run down the bottom nut to your extrusion to lock the extrusion. The second thumb screw can then be tightened to your photo device to lock it to your rail. If you order the T slot 4040 you may want to see if they have a lighter duty 4040 if you are mounting it to a tripod. If you are using this to build a photo booth out of 4040 extrusion the standard extrusion would work amazing for mounting flashes and accessories. It does have a little slop in the slot but for a cheap option it works amazing.
