I bought this lens used, so saved a couple hundred for a like new copy. Reviews I read were spotty and made me cautious, but the 16-80mm range is perfect for me.I prefer primes, for their superb image quality, so the criticisms that this lens was not really sharp concerned me. I needed to try it out myself, and after a month of use, I am adequately satisfied with it, especially for the convenience. It is a good walk-around lens. Sharpness may not equal a prime, but it makes up for that in convenience. Besides, unless you’re doing detailed commercial work, if you’ve got critics complaining about your less-than-perfectly-sharp corners, your photo isn’t interesting enough. I would recommend it for general use, travel, daily shooting.
