Hubby’s review:When I look at the top of this bubble level, it reminds of a bullseye. I use a 2X spirit level in the hot shoe when I use a tripod, but sometimes the brim of my hat interferes with the level. So I thought I’d try this one. This one solves the problem of the hat, but the bubble is small, and sometimes hard to see looking up from the viewfinder, especially when I’m shooting on my knees. I like it for covering the hot shoe contacts, but I wish I could attach a spirit level to it. Oh well. The one without the bubble level was the same price as the one that has the level, so that is why I chose the one with the level. I have to give it 5 stars, because I can’t really see any other way to design this. It covers the contacts, stays on securely, and throws in a bubble level to boot. So I have come to the conclusion that I will use this to protect the contacts when the camera is in the bag, and also when I’m handheld shooting. Otherwise, it’s the 2X spirit level for tripod use.

Nice little gadget that cleaned up and protected my Cannon’s hot shoe mount. I’m not sure how well the level will work (and don’t really care), but it really does a nice job of protecting the contacts and it DOES NOT obstruct the built-in flash… Unit is made of a medium, semi flexible rubber and it looks terrific on my camera.

I wanted a cover for my hot shoe – let’s be honest, most of us don’t have a flash attached 24/7.This cover does the job – it’s soft rubber, and shows no signs of degrading after several years of service.I’d hoped that the level would be more useful, but quickly realized that most of my shoots are done without a tripod – in which case, you won’t have a view of your hot shoe to figure out whether your setup is level. Still, I’d rather use this cover than any of the metal or hard plastic options – it does the job, even if my shooting style doesn’t actually use the level!

I have read the other reviews and do not understand the negative ones. The cover that originally came with the camera got lost by falling off the camera. This one is a snug fit, which it should be. You have to be very deliberate to remove it. It was shipped promptly and I had bought two anticipating that I would need the second. I won’t. Nice product.
