This dummy battery works on the Z7. Tested with a multimeter, it gives 8.37V, so it’s safe to use. Make sure to use a power bank that has Power Delivery USB-C.

I used this cable/battery to power a Nikon Z6 from a large USB power bank (which supports USB PD, though I don’t know if that matters). I stress tested the device by turning the camera’s display brightness up and doing interval RAW shots for six hours (yes, really). It worked great. I was using a Z lens with autofocus.I would suggest you use some tape to make sure the battery connector is absolutely secure to the USB power connector; it’s a good fit but the kind of thing you likely never, ever want to unplug. This works just as well as the Nikon dummy batteries I’ve used…and it costs like 80% less and plugs into USB-C rather than AC power. Get it, you’ll be happy.
