   I was in the market for an inexpensive alternative to the popular GoPro. This may sound like an insane use for the camera but we chase storms (and tornadoes) and needed something small that could attach to the roof of our vehicle along with the other equipment up there and be able to record/capture remotely as we spend most of the time traveling and are unable to access the cameras while on the roadI saw the Akaso EK7000 had over 8,000 reviews at a 4.3 star rating and several of my storm chaser friends recommended this. I initially bought the base model just to try it out and get a feel for it. At first I wasn’t happy. When you go onto Google Play and search by the camera name it gives you their proprietary app which is absolute rubbish and never worked. I then did a search and found the app recommended for this is the ISmart DV app. Downloaded, got everything connected and this time it worked!I played around with the first camera and needed more cameras to get a full coverage of the horizon. This time I purchased 2 of the EK7000 Plus models. They’re like an enhanced version of the base model. At first glance you can’t tell them from the base model and at first I thought they were just the base model until I went through the settings and noticed additional features that the base model doesn’t have like Diving Mode, FOV (Field of view), effects (like Black and White, Sepia, negative).The plus model also comes with a variety of filters. For what I do I might try and experiment with them. (Handy for capturing lightning). The remotes work well. If I don’t have the WiFi running I can use the remotes although I can’t review the footage as I’m getting it like I do when I have the WiFi running.Ok, I did give this 4 stars instead of 5. I did run into an issue with the cameras or I should say the app. The WiFi signals of some cameras are identical (the code might be similar) the ISmart DV can support 3 cameras or maybe more but I wasn’t successful at linking more than 2. The app keeps saying the 3rd is already synchronized although I hadn’t even set it up yet. I can live with this but it’s a bit of an inconvenience. Not a deal killer.I still recommend this for anyone who needs a small inexpensive camera with tons of accessories.I may update this review in the future.

   I bought this as a back-up to the EK7000 I already owned. SInce I’ve been using the old one and didn’t need this one right away I never opened the box or checked it since I got it. Today I decided to use it and found out it doesn’t work. Unfortunately the return window closed a week ago so it looks like I’m stuck with a broken camera I can’t use and can’t sell to anyone else. Learn by my mistake open all electronics bought from Amazon immediately when you get them and check to make sure they work. This is the 3rd electronic device I’ve purchased and had it fail within seconds of opening the box and turning it on. Especially the Chinese productsUPDATEI had previously reported that the window allowed by Amazon had closed and I thought I was stuck with a non-working camera. I took my complaint directly to the EK7000 supplier. They contacted me directly, giving me a short things to try, to fix the problem none of which worked. However, they immediately requested that I pack it up and send the broken camera to them, giving me the shipping address etc. I notified them it had been sent and shortly after I got a message saying a new camera had been shipped out to me from the company. I appreciate the company standing behind their product and making the sure their customers are taken care of. I own 2 EK7000 cameras and will continue to buy their products which they are willing to stand behind and back up.

   I use this for form analysis when coaching and to video myself in the pool. I’m really happy with the image quality, ease of use, battery life, and waterproof- ness.
